you're not them, are you?
I like to ask people questions about other people. You know sometimes, how we can be so prejudiced towards others without actually getting to know them first?
Like how we tend to think that people who think about nothing but shopping has a brain the size of a peanut.
Like how we tend to think that stylish people are snobbish and unapproachable because they are well off and think too much of themselves.
Like how we think people who write about themselves in blogs instead of current state of affairs are narcissistic bimbos who think the world revolves around them.
Or like how we tend to think that people who are quiet don’t have a mind of their own.
And trust me; it would take more than my lifetime to list down all the things people (sometimes myself included) tend to think when we don’t get to know a person well first.
So, I’ll ask you now just like I’ve been questioning people when people get prejudiced.
Would you be like them too, if you had been conditioned to live a life like theirs ever since forever, since they could remember?
Would you still think of them in the light you think of them if you were actually friends with them and knew why they acted the way they did?
Do you really know for sure that they aren’t saying the same things about you due to their lack of knowledge about your background and lifestyle?
So, yes. There is more than meets the eye. There really is. The fact that you cannot stand it when they are within sight or the fact that you cannot even imagine your name and theirs mentioned in the same breath is a different thing altogether. (for you and him/her to deal with personally)
You can’t bear to be near them, just stay away. There really are better things to do than to be so prejudiced towards people whom have done nothing to you personally, other than irritate you with their lifestyles.
You can’t say for sure that you would NEVER be like that because, hey, you NEVER really know yourself.
So, think. It’s easy for you to say when you don’t have what they have. You might be the exact same thing if you had what they have. Maybe even worse.
Stop being so bitter, it makes us sound old. We're still so young. Yang nak cepat tua sangat ni apekehenye?
oh, lagi satu, orang tak pakai tudung tak semestinya lupa tuhan dan tak alim.
pergi tengok Youtube berapa orang yang buat projek atas batu sambil kiss kiss tak hengat tudung lekat lagi kat kepala.

"oh, lagi satu, orang tak pakai tudung tak semestinya lupa tuhan dan tak alim.

It sounds so judgemental when ppl say "Dia tu baik and bla2..but sayang la tak pakai tudung" I have encountered this statement numerous times and I don't like to hear it. The tudung-wearers are not maksum!
My point is we shouldn't be so judgemental. I hate it when you're dressed in a less-than-glam outfit and you got 3rd class treatment by the shop assisstants in Gurney Plaza, for example. Macam la orang takde duit nak bli.
Sorry kakak, pjg pulak comments. Hehe..
mmg ppl like to generalise and it's a bad habit to kick. so i like to remind myself too..
and mmg pon retailers esp those yang super well known takkan layan if kite browse through stuff in their shops.
but itu lah.
dan orang tak pakai tudung bukan semua tak baik, betul kan?
thanks mau.
tcare :)
likewise, the generalization bila opt to wear tudung yang labuh sedikit - ppl'd think you're sooo backward;
and the shock on their faces sometimes when you speak english to them..
(hehe..sometimes i do this just for fun=p)
its a bad habit to kick - so true.
a great reminder kakak..really.thanks
n timmc, aah ingat org pakai tudung labuh tak reti ckp bi ker? ntah ape2
n to kakak, thanks for this entry. i hope other ppl will learn and think after this, just like me=)
i'm glad this can serve as a reminder to us all... hopefully, when we think of what people might think of us without knowing us, we'd think twice about being judgmental, right?
love you girls!
