4000 miles.

19th December 2009

So, after 8 gruelling hours on the flight (which I slept in and out of), we finally arrived. It was about ½ hour past midnight. I was sleepy and badly needed a stretch. But we were held back for a while when someone declared that s/he felt a bit unwell and the quarantine officer had to be called in.

We were finally released into the terminal. The queue was TO CRY FOR. And we had quite a few things to declare. But the quarantine procedure now isn’t as bad as it used to be then. A few years back, if we had something to declare, we had to open our bags for them to inspect each and every single thing we brought into Australia. Now, we just declare and they accept declarations in good faith. That made us happy alright. Like really.

(nampak tembam gile akibat tak cukup tidur. cis.)

There was a bit of a miscommunication with my brother though. We thought that he would be waiting for us at the Airport, but then, he was nowhere to be seen. Rupanya, dia memang dah tunggu dekat Southern Cross Station lama! Aiseh. We took the Skybus to Southern Cross and met my brother there. My mum was hugging him non-stop so we had no choice but to sandwich him in hugs.

We had coke and fries at Hungry Jacks. Of course, we weren’t even that hungry, but whatever. I couldn’t believe that it was that cold in summer. This is penipuan! It’s supposed to be summer so why on earth was it so cold. Tak masuk akal okay.

After that we waited at the waiting area which was more comfortable. I tried to get some sleep but we weren’t allowed to put our heads on the benches unless we wanted to be asked to leave the premises. There was a shouting match between the enforcement officers and some men who made a bed out of the benches at the waiting area.

I’ll be very honest now. I wasn’t very impressed with Melbourne when I arrived.

And it didn’t help that I was sleepy and tired and was in dire need of some place comfortable to land my head.
